New York has so far raised more than $2.2 billion in venture capital and is earmarking $100 million in prime real estate to build its version of Silicon Valley but Montreal and Waterloo’s little engine that could approach looks like a better use of public resources.

Instead of going big – and taking on all the risk that comes with it – it might just seem safer to go home (early) for a lot of Canadian entrepreneurs today, especially compared to their U.S. counterparts.

Twitter was the biggest target of vitriol among SMBs, with 46 per cent in the iContact survey expressing actual hate (again, their words, not mine) for the microblogging site.
